Money will benefit students seeking technical degrees
Exelon Generation, LLC, donated $30,000 to the Joliet Junior College Foundation's scholarship fund. The $30,000 will be divided into 10 $3,000 scholarships that will be distributed in the fall 2008 semester for students pursuing technical degrees in applied sciences.
"Exelon Nuclear is building a strong relationship with Joliet Junior College to foster educational and professional opportunities for its students," said Dan Enright, LaSalle County Generating Station site vice president and Exelon Nuclear's executive sponsor of JJC. "These generous grants will help JJC recruit students get a high-quality education and open up professional opportunities in technical fields."
"Exelon has been a generous supporter of Joliet Junior College," added Kristin Mulvey, executive director of the JJC Foundation, said. "This gift allows us to work with a business in our district to ultimately benefit our students."
Headquartered in Chicago, Exelon is one of the nation's largest energy companies. In addition to the countless hours of community service performed by employees, Exelon has donated more than $174 million over the past six years to organizations and institutions in communities in which they serve and work.
