Top Ten Work-at-Home Jobs
The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) predicts a growing demand for many jobs by
2016. A number of them can be done at home. The following list is based on an article
written by Anthony Balderrama for CareerBuilder.com.
It shows a few of them.
Advertising Sales Agents
Sell advertising for different media such as print, broadcast, or Internet. Online
marketing is growing so fast that 35,000 new jobs are projected by 2016.
Customer Service Representatives
The person answering your questions on the phone may not be in a large office. Instead,
they may be working from home. The BLS expects the demand for customer service representatives
to grow from 2.2 million to 2.7 million by 2016.
Computer Software Engineers
These engineers design, develop and test new computer software. The BLS expects
an additional 324,000 new jobs by 2016.
Meeting and Convention Planners
Meeting planners choose the venue, find speakers, book transportation and lodging,
and keep track of attendees for events. Most of this work is done by phone making
it an ideal home-based job.
Market Research Analysts
Market analysts should see a 20 percent increase in job opportunities over the coming
years. The Internet will drive much of this growth. Analysts will interpret information
to learn consumers want and the best way to reach them.
Technical Writers
These writers know how to communicate complicated technical ideas in a language
anyone can understand. If you are good at this, you should be in demand and you
should have the ability to work from home. Many writers can work at home as long
as they meet deadlines.
Joliet Junior College has many short-term training opportunities designed to prepare
