Personal Trainer Certification (MGT 858)
Take the first step to starting an exciting, successful career as a Certified Personal Trainer. Joliet Junior College partners with World Instructor Training Schools (WITS) to provide you in-depth lectures and hands-on practical labs that will prepare you for the national certification exam. The program, which is accredited by NCCA, consists of 15 hours of lecture on key topics like biomechanics, exercise physiology, fitness testing, equipment usage, health assessments and 15 hours of hands-on practical training labs where you will practice assessing clients, programming, performing proper exercise technique, presenting and more. You can start working after passing the national certification exam and earning your Level 1 Certified Personal Trainer (CPT). At no additional cost, you can take advantage of the 30-hour employer internship to earn the Level 2 CPT credential. Thursday classes will be held from 6-9p.m. on the JJC Main Campus. Saturday classes will be held (10a.m.-1p.m.) at Hometown Fitness in Plainfield. Exam will be held on Aug. 19 & 21. Time for exam to be determined. Includes exam. Cost does not include: textbook, AHA Heartsaver CPR. Prerequisite: at least 18-years-old.
