Transportation Safety – Level One (MGT 2825)
Level One will introduce you to the federal motor carrier safety regulations. You
will develop an understanding of the responsibilities of all involved including shippers, corporate entities, supervisors, material handlers, drivers and federal and state regulating authorities and the requirements that govern them. Learn how a trucking company is set up, including how to establish a safety department, how to assess qualifications of drivers, how to address safety liability issues and how to develop mitigation strategies. Develop the basic skills and knowledge regarding cargo security, vehicle inspections, material handling, routing, hours of service (HOS) and electronic logs (known as ELDs). Complete this course and Transportation Safety Levels Two and Three to earn a Transportation Safety Certificate.
Transportation Safety – Level Two (MGT 2826)
Level Two will explore a deeper understanding of and the proper structure for a trucking company in the transportation industry, including the development of safety systems and procedures. Learn how to correct deficiencies, implement a drug and alcohol program and address Compliance, Safety and Accountability (CSA). Begin an advanced study of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and its regulations as they apply to the transportation industry, including how to conduct a self-audit. Complete this course and Transportation Safety Levels One and Three to earn a Transportation Safety Certificate.
Transportation Safety Level Three (MGT 2827)
Level Three will examine Compliance, Safety, Accountability (CSA) and the Safety Measurement System (SMS) methodology. Gain knowledge and learn practical applications related to transportation insurance with an emphasis on the differences in types of insurance and a look at primary and contingent coverage. Examine the differences between self-insurance reserves, deductibles, captives and self-insurance. Complete this course and Transportation Safety Levels One and Two to earn a Transportation Safety Certificate.
