Physical Therapy Aide (MGT 7977)

Physical therapy has become an integral part of total patient care and rehabilitation. Physical therapy aides work in nursing homes, orthopedic and chiropractic offices, hospitals, sports rehabilitation centers and more. In this comprehensive, you’ll learn to provide patient services under the direction and supervision of a physical therapist that help improve mobility, relieve pain and prevent or limit permanent physical disabilities. You’ll also explore nontechnical duties like preparing treatment areas, ordering devices and supplies, performing clerical duties and transporting patients. After successfully completing the classroom portion of this course, students are eligible for a 40-hour clinical externship. After completing the class and externship, students are eligible to take the National Workshop Career Association (NWCA) Physical Therapy Aide (PTA) Exam. NOTE: This class includes a complete, self-guided, on-line course, with virtual, real-time instructor support on Tuesdays and Thursdays (7-8p.m.). In-person labs TBD by instructor at the start of the course. Costs not included: AHA BLS CPR Certification, health and safety requirements needed before clinical externship, certification exam. Prerequisite: High School Diploma or GED equivalent, at least 18-years-old
